You can educate your kids about money with these great and free online money games.
We all know that kids learn best through play and for many kids play means online gaming these days. Teaching kids about money is an essential part of preparing them for adult life yet sadly is something barely taught at school. You could lecture them forever about the importance of saving for goals but I would guess a game totally centred around this would have way more impact!
I have been trying out a few games recently at mortgagecalculator.org/money-games/ who have tons of great play options for kids to learn about cash. Let me share my 3 favourites with you.
Boat Rush
As your boat travels down the river you have to move it from side to side to avoid hazards including mines, rocks electrical charges, and rockets. The aim is to collect as many power ups and coins as you can and use that to buy better boats and travel as far as you can. I love this game, it’s lots of fun and teaches kids to be alert to hazards when collecting money and focussed on their goals!
I got my boat blown up a lot! You have to be fast and stay really on it!
Piggybank adventure
This super speedy game is all about aiming to get coins in the piggy bank by cutting the rope at the right time and collecting stars as your coin makes it ‘s way into the slot. It couldn’t be easier and it’s super speedy to work through the levels so even little kids will love it, though of course it does get progressively harder. It just takes one mouse click to either win or lose your round, and it is a nice touch that there is always get the option to try again! And of course it makes kids think coins in a piggy bank is a very good thing. A great lesson to instil!
Idle money tree
For kids that like to click, click, click, and watch their progress grow the idle money tree is perfect!
The rules are simple and there are no hazards but you have lots of opportunities to maximise your earnings by click money bags as they appear on your tree to collect them and click rapidly and repeatedly to activate a multiplier bonus which can double or triple your earnings. You can also select floating bags of money which randomly appear on the screen to earn large extra sums. and upgrade the sunshine, your watering can etc to further boost your earnings. It keeps on earning even if you step away fr0m it though, just like money does, if it is untouched and safely stored. A great less but for me I prefer more adventure! ( not with my savings though)
