Where to find offers and discounts
Just Eat is the biggest player in the UK food delivery sector. But that doesn’t mean it’s the cheapest. So are there ways to bring down the cost of your takeaway delivery?

Search for welcome offers
New customers will often find welcome offers just by searching the web.
Or you can join Just Eat by going through a cashback site. TopCashback is giving 22.1% cashback on your first order for new customers at the time of writing and Quidco is offering 18.75% cashback for new customers.

Join the Just Eat loyalty programme
Free to join, this membership allows you to collect stamps from your favourite restaurants in return for a discount.
You can collect a stamp from a participating restaurant every time you order. Each stamp is worth 10% of your order’s value excluding fees. Once you have collected five stamps, the value of the stamps will be discounted off your next order from the specific restaurant you ordered from, redeemable for ninety days.
This is a good scheme if you have a regular restaurant you order from. But if you like variety, then it may take a while to reach five orders from one restaurant, and since stamps expire twelve months from the date the stamps were awarded, you may not always benefit from this perk.
Order your takeaway on a Tuesday
You can save 20% off orders over £15 every Tuesday and there’s no need for a voucher code, since it’s taken off automatically at the checkout. However, not every restaurant participates in the offer.

Use the deals tab on the app
Click on the deals tab and you’ll get discounts or free items at specific restaurants, usually with a minimum spend. At the time of writing, I could find 30% and 40% off entire order offers, free items, discounted items and meal deals. And you’ll still collect your loyalty stamps.
Check your emails for offers
Just Eat does send you a lot of emails if you’ve signed up to receive them. But don’t delete them straight away, since many offer really good discounts, such as 40% off your entire order.
They’ve even been known to email an offer of £5 off your next order, if you fill in a quick questionnaire.
So although the emails are aplenty, don’t discard them!
Order from a restaurant that does it’s own deliveries
Some places don’t use Just Eat’s drivers but have their own staff bringing you your order. If you find these you’ll get a lower service charge, potentially saving you as much as £2 per order.
It’s worth checking if you can order direct from these restaurants too, as you could get your food for cheaper still.
Buy discounted gift cards
Cashback sites like Jam Doughnut and Cheddar offer cashback on gift card purchases and are a really easy way to save money on your orders.
At the time of writing, Just Eat vouchers have 5.5% cashback on Jam Doughnut, 4% cashback on Cheddar, 5.2% on TopGiftCards, 5% on Snip and 4.5% on HyperJar.
It’s an extra step to do before ordering your takeaway, but the rates are usually better than going through cashback sites, so it’s worth the extra time.

Earn cashback
Click through a cashback site to order your Just Eats takeaway, as at the time of writing, TopCashback is giving existing customers 2.55% cashback, whilst for Quidco it’s 0.75% cashback.

Check the Just Eat Price Promise
If you pay more for your menu items when ordering a delivery meal from Just Eat than you would when ordering from the restaurant directly on their own website or app, Just Eat will give you a voucher for twice the difference.
It doesn’t include any special offers or customer charges such as the service charge or delivery fees and you must submit a claim within 14 days of placing the order.
Service fee
The service charge with Just Eat is 10%, with a minimum charge of 99p and a maximum of £2.49. But if the restaurant you’re ordering from does its own deliveries or you collect your order, the service charge is 50p.
Delivery fee
The delivery fee is set by the restaurant and they vary considerably. You can see the delivery fee on each restaurant tab, with many starting from zero.
But rather than having a small order fee, some restaurants have a minimum spend and this is stated on the restaurant tab.
Looking at my app, the majority of restaurants actually state ‘no minimum spend’ which is good news, but since the delivery fee stated is ‘from’ a certain value, you’ll usually end up paying a higher delivery fee for a small order.
Is Just Eat the cheapest takeaway delivery service?
Just Eat have loads of discounts so you’ll always find deals. Whether those deals are on the takeaway you actually want to order is another story, so shop around for the best price.
The deals tab makes it easy to find the best discounts and offers, so make this your first point of call on the app.
If you order from the same restaurant on a regular basis, the loyalty scheme is a good incentive to order through Just Eat, as you’ll be receiving 10% of what you spent back as credit.
The best value though, comes from buying Just Eat gift cards to pay for your order, so that’s an extra step that’s definitely worth doing.
