Yes, they’re not just a waste of paper anymore, you can turn them into money, and I’m going to show you how.
These are all things that I do myself. I’ve tried and tested all of these methods myself and I’ve cashed out money with each of them so I know they work.
RECEIPT APPS
Ibotta
I love the Ibotta app so much that I wrote a full post about it here: How to Make the Most Money With Ibotta.
It’s a great way to earn extra money with your receipts. You simply unlock rebates before you shop and then upload your receipts after. Some offers also require you to scan your item as well.
But it is super simple and only takes a few minutes to use!

Fetch Rewards
Fetch Rewards is a newer app that turns your grocery receipts into rewards. Save on over 180 brands EVERY time they’re on your receipt, with over $10 in bonus points available, and rotating exclusive special offers. And all you do is scan your grocery receipts!

ShopKick
You may have heard about Shopkick to get points when visiting stores and scanning items, but they have added a new feature called KickBates. Find KickBate items at participating stores. Look for the receipt icon and pink flags on the scans list in the ShopKick App. Buy KickBate items at qualifying stores and submit your receipt!
Earn Kicks for every KickBate item you purchase and redeem your Kicks for gift cards! You can read more about ShopKick and all its features in my post: Earn Money Walking Around the Mall.

Checkout51
Every Thursday morning, Checkout 51 updates with a new list of offers. All you have to do is pick the ones you like, purchase them at any store, and upload a photo of your receipt through their mobile app or website.

Swagbucks
Swagbucks is one of my favorite reward sites where you can do all sorts of activities to earn “Swagbucks” which you then can turn into gift cards.
One of their newest point-earning opportunities is for scanning your grocery receipts! At the time of writing this blog they had some really great point offers that were equal to a $5 gift card!

Merryfield App
The Merryfield app allows you to earn free gift cards just for shopping better-for-you brands. Once you download the app you can start earning points every time your grocery receipt has any products from any of their participating better-for-you brands. Receipt Hog is a fun and rewarding way to turn receipts from everyday shopping into cash – no matter where you shop or what you buy.
I have not tried this app yet because there is a waiting list and I am still on it. I thought it was worth mentioning because depending on your demographics you may be able to get in.
