A recent study from Wethrift shows which supermarket clothing brands offer the best value for money, helping shoppers stretch their budgets without sacrificing style or quality.

Asda’s George tops the value fashion chart

Asda’s clothing brand, George, stands out as the most affordable option across men’s, women’s, and children’s wear.

According to the study, a complete outfit from George averages just £61.25 per person.

This includes the basics of an everyday wardrobe: a T-shirt, jeans, jumper, coat, and a selection of accessories such as hats and bags.

Not only is George economical, but it’s also made with materials comparable to those of pricier high street brands, meaning shoppers don’t have to compromise on quality to save a few pounds.

Here’s a closer look at what you can expect to spend on specific items at George:

  • T-shirts: £8.30 for women, £10.20 for men, £7.45 for girls, and £3.55 for boys
  • Jeans: £17 for women, £17.80 for men, £5.40 for girls, and £9.60 for boys
  • Coats: £33.60 for women, £34.40 for men, £18.80 for girls, and £14.20 for boys

With a reputation for delivering quality on a budget, George proves a top pick for frugal fashion lovers.

Sainsbury’s TU and Morrison’s Nutmeg – solid choices for affordable fashion

Following closely behind George, Sainsbury’s TU brand ranks as the second most affordable supermarket clothing option, with an outfit costing an average of £66.01 per person.

Not far off, Morrison’s Nutmeg line takes third place, costing an average of £66.63 for a full outfit.

Both brands offer good value for money, allowing families to stock up on seasonal essentials without the high price tag.

Tesco’s F&F and Marks & Spencer – options for higher budgets

Tesco’s F&F clothing brand ranks fourth on the list, with a full outfit averaging £82.98 per person.

While it’s a bit pricier than Asda, Sainsbury’s, and Morrison’s offerings, F&F is still a popular choice for those looking for stylish options with a bit more variety.

On the higher end, Marks & Spencer’s M&S Collection rounds out the list as the most expensive of the supermarket brands.

An outfit from M&S costs an average of £115.65 per person, nearly double the cost of an outfit from George at Asda.

For shoppers willing to spend a bit more, M&S delivers a premium feel with a focus on quality materials.

Supermarket fashion: why it’s worth considering

The growing popularity of supermarket fashion isn’t just about lower prices.

Many supermarket clothing lines offer practical, stylish options that cater to everyday needs, making them a go-to for busy families.

Plus, with materials similar to what’s used in high street brands, shoppers can enjoy good quality without breaking the bank.

So, next time you’re doing the weekly shop, don’t overlook the clothing aisles. You might just find a few hidden gems that keep you and your wallet happy.
